The North Cape (Nordkapp): Continental Europe's Northern Edge

The North Cape (Norwegian: Nordkapp) is the headland plateau at 71°10'21"N — the northernmost point reachable by road on the European mainland. Coastal Express ships call at Honningsvåg on Magerøya Island, from where guests transfer by coach across Arctic tundra to the clifftop visitor centre and the iconic globe monument perched above the Barents Sea.

North Cape is accessible year-round but experiences polar night from late November to late January (no direct sunlight) and midnight sun from mid-May through late July (the sun does not set). The plateau is frequently windswept and cold even in summer, with conditions changing in minutes; Hurtigruten provides free windproof ponchos during excursions. The visitor centre houses a cinema, chapel, and a restaurant inside the cliff.
