Svalbard: Summer Signature Voyages

Between June and August, Hurtigruten operates Signature voyages from Bergen northward to Svalbard, reaching Longyearbyen on the island of Spitsbergen at 78°13'N — well above the 66°33' Arctic Circle and roughly 1,300 km from the North Pole. Longyearbyen is the world's northernmost town of over 1,000 residents and the administrative centre of the Norwegian Svalbard archipelago.

The Svalbard leg adds dramatic glacial fjords (Isfjorden, Kongsfjorden), former mining settlements (Barentsburg, Pyramiden), and wildlife-dense waters where polar bears, walrus, beluga whales, and Arctic foxes are commonly sighted. Shore activities outside town require armed guides by law due to the polar bear population. Midnight sun from 19 April to 23 August provides continuous daylight for the entire sailing window.
