Eastern Mediterranean

Across the whitewashed villages in the Greek Isles and Turkey, time follows the rhythms of coastal life. Limestone alleyways echo with laughter and music. Daily scenes reveal the region's soul as elders linger over iced coffee at corner cafés and fishermen mend their nets along sunlit harbors.

Nearby, on the Mediterranean’s Adriatic side, lies a pathway through time that echoes with tales of emperors, merchants, and artists. The fortress city of Dubrovnik holds centuries of history, while Montenegro’s old town of Kotor remains nestled within an emerald fjord. From the hills of the Dalmatian Coast to the plazas of northern Italy, local tables overflow with culinary treasures — slow-simmered Croatian pašticada, fresh-caught seafood grilled to perfection, and hand-rolled pastas with succulent fillings — each dish telling stories of the past.

In the Eastern Mediterranean and along the Adriatic, you’ll feel the authentic pulse of local life — from the islands of Milos and Crete to the vibrant quarters of Istanbul, Dubrovnik’s fortified lanes, and Kotor’s dramatic bay.

With so many varied experiences, some guests find the Western Mediterranean is best for families.

In the French and Italian Rivieras, sun-drenched cliffs and sparkling coasts call, inviting you to explore colorful seaside towns, historical fortress cities, and galleries and boutiques. Savor sumptuous lunches of local delicacies at the bistros of coastal villages like Menton and Saint-Tropez. And in the hidden port cities of Trapani and Bonifacio, discover markets bursting with mouthwatering cuisine.

Foodies and culture lovers can’t go wrong in the Iberian Peninsula. These Spanish villages and quaint Portuguese towns offer tapas, paella, and bacalao a la vizcaína that sing with the flavors of age-old spice routes. Guests are known to embrace a slower pace in medieval villages like Girona and coastal gems like Cascais.

There’s no rush in Iberia. Stop and smell the orange blossoms as you wander cobblestone streets pulsing with the beats of flamenco and the soulful rhythms of fado. In the Portuguese Azores Islands, São Miguel and Pico abound with volcanic craters, sapphire lakes, and healing hot springs.
