Northern Lights Explorer

Name: Northern Lights Explorer
Brand: Aurora Expeditions

Welcome to Aurora Expeditions’ Northern Lights Explorer expedition. Shorter days in the high latitudes means darkening evening skies, so on this voyage we stay close to the coastlines of the Arctic Circle, skirting around the Norwegian and Greenland seas, and exploring remote islands and villages of the region. As night falls, we look skywards hoping to catch the magic of the northern lights. This spectacular natural phenomenon offers a surreal light display as vibrant hues of blue, green, pink and violet dance across the night sky. Places located near the Arctic Circle such as northern Norway, Iceland and Greenland, are some of the best places in the world to witness this stunning light show.

Please Note

Pack your flexibility: Aurora Expeditions operates in remote and challenging environments, and in the spirit of expedition travel, we encourage you to adopt a flexible and adventurous attitude when joining our voyages. This itinerary is a guide only and is subject to change due to weather, ice, sea state and other conditions beyond our control. Fitness & mobility: Your expedition offers great landings and walking opportunities. To make the most out of your landings, we do recommend that you are reasonably fit and healthy, though we always offer slower group options for those who are after a more relaxed pace. You should be confident on your feet to allow you to walk up and down the ship's gangway (equivalent to a steep set of stairs), get in and out of a Zodiac in some swell, and walk across wet, snowy and/or rocky terrain. Zodiacs: On your voyage, there is a whole world of breathtaking wilderness to discover, and at Aurora Expeditions we pride ourselves on being able to bring you closer to some of the incredible scenery and wildlife that make the region so unique. Which is why we can take you one step further with our Zodiac cruises and landings. These inflatable boats are perfect for cruising around Norway, Greenland and Iceland, giving you the chance to see the world from a completely new point of view. Your Choice shore excursions: Our ‘Your Choice’ shore excursions listed in the itinerary are included. These must be reserved through our passenger portal at least 60 days prior to embarkation and cannot be amended after this time. If we do not receive your choices by this time, you will be allocated excursions by our automated system. We will always do our best to provide you with your first preference of shore excursion; however, we may occasionally need to place you on an alternative excursion for operational reasons. Flight connections: Do not book departure flights from Reykjavik prior to 12.00 pm on the day of disembarkation, as we may experience delays at the conclusion of the voyage.

Insurance Requirements

1.Due to the adventurous style of travel offered by Aurora Expeditions and the remoteness of the areas in which we travel, it is a condition of travel with Aurora Expeditions that all passengers are covered by comprehensive travel insurance prior to departure, and that they maintain such insurance for the duration of the expedition. 2.Passengers travelling with Aurora Expeditions are required to be covered by a reputable travel insurance policy that includes baggage loss, cancellation & curtailment of holiday, medical, accident and repatriation/emergency evacuation coverage worth at least $250,000 USD and otherwise on terms that are sufficient to indemnify you. We travel to remote regions of the world and we recommend that the insurance policy’s repatriation/emergency evacuation benefit be higher than minimum and cover you for remote or Polar Evacuation should it be required. In the case of a medical issue arising during the expedition, either on board or on shore, which results in costs for medical treatment, repatriation, evacuation, use of aircraft, etc, the responsibility for payment of these costs and expenses belongs solely to the passenger. Please ensure that such eventualities are covered by your travel insurance policy. In any case, if you are not covered by a travel insurance policy, the responsibility remains with the passenger and Aurora Expeditions specifically declines any responsibility whatsoever, including in circumstances where Aurora Expeditions or a related body corporate of Aurora Expeditions arranges a travel insurance policy on your behalf. 3.Your insurance details must be supplied to us prior to final payment and if you fail to provide the requested insurance information at the time requested, we reserve the right to cancel your booking. 4.In that event that you do not produce confirmation of travel insurance to Aurora Expeditions pursuant to clause 3 and your booking is subsequently cancelled by Aurora Expeditions, you will remain liable to pay any amounts that are due and payable in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.
