Stanley – Volunteer Point Enjoy an epic journey in a 4x4 to Volunteer Point, home to 1,200 king penguins. Along the way, enjoy superb scenery in this rugged landscape.
Join your driver/guide on an epic journey in a 4x4 to Volunteer Point, home to 1,200 king penguins. There are also approximately 500 gentoo penguins and Magellanic penguins in this superb location, home to three species of penguin. Volunteer Point is approximately a 2.5-hour drive from Stanley that is mostly off-road.
On your journey, you will see many of the famous battlefield sites and remnants from the 1982 conflict. You will also pass by unique rock formations, known locally as 'stone runs', while you take in the beautiful, rugged landscape. The king penguin colony is located between a white-sand beach and a lagoon, which makes for fantastic photographic opportunities and fosters an abundance of wildlife. Stroll along the beach and see all three penguin species together. There are also many species of birds to be seen in this area, including Magellanic snipes, dark-faced ground tyrants, Falkland pipits, and upland geese.

Welsh life in Patagonia
From the pier, you’ll be transferred to the small town of Gaiman. Welsh immigrants settled in Gaiman around 150 years ago and their descendants still preserve Welsh culture and traditions, including religion, music and language.
While you’re there, you’ll visit the town museum and admire colonial artifacts, and visit a typical Welsh tea house for tea, cakes and sweet tarts. You’ll also be treated to a performance by an authentic Welsh choir.

Your tour begins along Ross Road, the capital’s seaside main street.
Your guide will point out the town’s highlights, including Christ Church Cathedral and the Whalebone Arch, the 1982 Liberation Memorial, the Lady Elizabeth shipwreck, and some of Stanley’s original houses. Puerto Madryn - Navigation to look for Dolphins Join us as we seek out dolphins in their natural habitat and visit the sea lions of Punta Loma Reserve.
Waters rich in life
Your boat trip begins by heading along the coast of Golfo Nuevo to seek out the local dolphins as they frolic in their natural habitat. We pass by Punta Cuevas where you’ll see the Monumento al Indio Tehuelche and the renowned Ecocentro from the sea, before continuing to the shipwreck, El Folias, in Playa Paraná.
Then we’ll visit the Punta Loma Reserve to see the sea lion colony and some of the many seabirds that breed there, such as cormorants and shearwaters.

Take a guided walk to get insight into life in the Falklands, where approximately 2500 people call home.
Head to the Jubilee Villa Gardens and take a stroll along Ross Road to the Christchurch Cathedral, built in the late 1800s, with Cathedral wardens available to explain the history of the church and answer any questions.
Further along, there are plenty of photo opportunities, such as the Whalebone Arch, constructed from the jawbones of two blue whales and erected in 1933; there’s Victory Green, alongside the harbor wall and the mast of SS Great Britain, some of the many picturesque points.
End your walk at the Historic Dockyard Museum and learn via a self-guided visit about previous explorers, the history and heritage of the island as well as the animals, plants and sea all around. Explore at your leisure with museum staff available to answer your questions.
