The first days of this journey are in the rugged and windswept Gothenburg archipelago, before travelling on to the unique marine systems and pink granites of the Koster Islands.

The way to the north

Heading north, you'll trace a route once sailed by the Vikings. You’ll have the opportunity to experience the Norwegian spirit of hygge, an embracing of soft comforts and cosiness, from candlelit cafés to a warming cup of hot chocolate. These peaceful moments will be dotted through mornings and afternoons of pure adventure, like skimming across the jade-blue waters of Norway’s most spectacular fjords in a Zodiac.

Escorted landings with Zodiac boats when the ship is at anchor at the Gothenburg archipelago, Koster Islands, Lysefjord, and Rodendal. Otherwise, the ship will dock at the pier.

Practical information: Practical information • This is an optional, add-on activity, available at an additional cost. • This activity can only be booked on board. • Top-quality kayaking gear is provided, including a two-person hard-shell sea kayak, paddle, boots, life jacket, drysuit, and pogies. • Please note that this kayaking activity only uses two-person kayaks. Duration: Varies between 1.5–5 hours Difficulty: Active – good mobility needed Highlights: • Explore extraordinary landscapes with Expedition Team members who will share their knowledge about the area. • See wildlife and unique ecosystems • Hike trails off the beaten path for unmatched views and immersive adventure. Practical information: • Included: (used at planners discretion for specialist equipment/meals. Not needed for regular coach/guide/entry – planner can remove section if not needed) • Walking poles • Remarks/requirements: • All hiking activities are presented on board during the voyage by our Expedition Team.
